Principal Systems Engineer
To support the Air Systems UK forward load, we need to employ some contract Systems engineers with UAV, early life cycle/project experience to assist with the startup activities/scoping of the various project opportunities within Air Systems UK LoB.

Job Description
A Principal Systems Engineer is needed to join a growing System Engineering department. Flexibility on skills will open this position to a trained individual who may have worked in a Defence organisation. Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, the system engineer will be involved at every phase of the product life cycle particularly through the initial requirement through to design.

Essential Skills:
The candidate must possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact with subject matter experts regarding a wide range of technical and operational topics.
Experience in developing systems architecture design particularly with the EW domain.
Ability to develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements within agreed programmes and timescales.
Ability to produce Innovative System solutions.
Substantial analytical and technical problem solving skills.
Sound understanding of the CONOPS analysis, Requirements Management, System Design Process (including System and Sub-System Specification).
Ability to liaise with internal projects and other LoBs including external avionics companies.
Self motivated team player capable of working with minimum direction.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience of working with Requirements engineering tools (DOORS), Mathematical analysis tools (Matlab/Simulink), system design tools (MODAF/UML).
Experience gained within System Design/System Architectures.
Experience of working with unmanned aircraft.

Key responsibility areas:
Requirements capture as part of the initial study phase of a project for an unmanned ISTAR System.
Involved in functional design and responsibility for significant systems design decisions and sub-system level analysis tasks
Manage changes to the solution/design while continuing to communicate the changes to the team.
Deliver to agreed performance targets.
Using technical expertise to solve problems, generate ideas and be pro-active within the team.
Support bid preparation and work closely with other key members of the team.
Liaise with Customer and Partner companies.
