The Principle or Senior Scientist in the Innovative Drug Delivery Group will lead efforts relating to the identification, evaluation and integration of leading edge formulation and device drug delivery technologies for drug and vaccine projects within MedImmune.
This is a high profile and highly visible role, which will require significant interaction within research and development functions. The role holder must be able to effectively incorporate input from multiple stakeholders and drive consensus on 'best answer' for an asset or a technology. In addition the individual will be expected to co-ordinate and assist others involved in drug delivery activities across all MedImmune R&D sites as well as the global AstraZeneca organization.
The individual is expected to provide appreciable direction to younger scientists within the Innovative Drug Delivery Group including those who report directly to him/her.
Requirements:
Has strong technical competence and credibility in the field of drug delivery and is able to give assured technical direction.
Primary responsibility is to identify and prioritize technologies, requiring working knowledge of drug delivery and device technology uses, limitations, etc. Specific application of these technologies to biopharmaceuticals and vaccines is preferred, as is a strong analytical background.
The role holder must have clear project management capabilities in order to ensure that the cross-functional technology assessments and other processes are delivered on-time and of high quality.
Good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills are essential, demonstrated leadership capabilities, organization, flexibility and the ability to operate in a fast paced environment are an integral part of this position. Problem solving and innovation are also fundamental qualities for this role.
