Principal Safety Engineer Within Defence Industry

Principal Safety Engineer role with leading and successful defence organisation; based in Barrow In-Furness. Opportunity for Systems Engineer to work on unique defence projects on 12 months contract.

Provision of general systems engineering and/or quality assurance expertise to support definition and early introduction of processes in response to Def Stan 02-207 (Quality Management Framework and Requirements for Material Safety Submarines) - replacement of SSCP/SSP 25.

Specific activities:

*Support to completion of Policies and Process instructions detailing how Def Stan 02-207 will be applied to the Engineering Design and placed as requirements on Suppliers.
*Support to interactions with Toolset Development team to agree any tool configurations required to support agreed policies and process instructions.
*Support Engineers during early introduction of policies and processes.
*Liaison with MoD on any further changes required to Def Stan 02-207, and/or agreement of BAES intended implementation of Def Stan 02-207.
*Review and clarification of implications of Def Stan 02-207 on internal manufacturing, build, and test activities.
*Liaison with teams responsible for internal manufacturing, build, and test, and involvement in development of policies or other documentation required to ensure appropriate implementation of Def Stan 02-207.
*Review of arrangements for management of information generated in support of Def Stan 02-207 and identification of means by which information will be collated to support hand over to the Support Authority.

Specific Deliverables to be agreed after commencement of above tasks.
Weekly report on progress to be provided.

The Individual

Team player who respects the opinions of others and is able to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
Degree qualified or with significant experience on large system projects.
Good clear thinking, self-organisation and writing skills.

Experience:
A proven track record of working on large system projects. Looking for general Systems Engineering skills though experience of Safety Processes and/or Quality Assurance Processes would be of benefit.
