Principal Piping Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION/ROLE

LEAD PIPING ENGINEER - EFFLUENT AND ENCAPSULATION PLANTs (E&EP)

Responsibilities include:

- Providing expert piping support to the SL 'Intelligent Customer' for Mechanical Engineering in E&EP
- Investigating emerging technical issues associated with operating plants on the Sellafield site and developing viable, cost-effective and safe solutions for their resolution including site visits and liaison with plant operations personnel
- Preparing scope of work, estimate and schedule for piping design for a variety of minor works improvement tasks, minor and major projects
- Responsible for delivery of engineering design for piping systems using existing framework agreements
- Providing technical support to SL at funding sanction (gate) reviews and design stage reviews
- Identifying resource requirements and SQEP engineers to carry out design work

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical engineering subject.

SECURITY CLEARANCE

Current 'SC' Level preferred, but may accept suitably qualified and experienced candidates with no clearance level (provided that as a minimum, they are British nationals). Clearance up to 'SC' Level must be attained once the candidate is mobilised on the project.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

- 5 years piping experience in a technical or engineering design delivery role
-3 years Nuclear Industry experience

The role will require regular access to 'controlled areas' within radiological plants on the Sellafield site. Therefore, the successful applicant must currently hold, or be able to attain, classified/monitored worker status.
