Principal Performance Engineer - Contract

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Primary Responsibilities
Identifying root cause for performance issues and establishing plans to remediate them.
Designing, developing and testing solutions to performance issues
Define design best practices and standards for the development organization

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree, preferably in an Information Systems or Mathematics
7 or more years IT experience with 5 years or more hands-on experience with Informatica, Exadata and OBIEE 11g
Extensive knowledge of dimensional modelling
Prior experience with end to end performance identification and tuning
Solid OBIEE RPD optimization experience and understanding of platform configuration and internals

Skills and Knowledge
In-depth experience with Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing concepts and modelling
Has the ability to perform deep dive analysis of ETL logic such as simple to complex transformations, look-ups, caching and scheduling.
Understands the architectural foundation of Exadata as well as the hardware and software benefits of the infrastructure.
Understands columnar compression, partitioning, smart scans and offloading as well as how to write queries to take advantage of the Exadata infrastructure
Knowledge of Linux and optimal OS configuration
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle database Scripting
Excellent communication skills, great attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
Self-starter with ability to take initiative to achieve goals and meet deadlines with minimal direction
Flexibility to travel
