THE CLIENT: WORLD LEADER IN DEFENCE MARKETS

THE JOB:

Responsibility for the Engineering Integration, Authorisation and Qualification of Tier 1 Supplier (Rolls Royce) into the Astute Platform.

- Ensure Tier 1 suppliers' requirements are adequately defined and captured. Update these in line with emerging issues and requirements.
- Ensure any deviations from design are justified and then endorsed by Tier 1 Supplier.
- Attend Test Group meetings as required.
- Ensure required Product Verification activates are in place
- Provide all key platform support statements for key build and regulatory hold points relating to Tier 1 supply.
- Responsible for ensuring Engineering activities are completed and design intent is not compromised. (Note that the role includes management through to final approval of any deviation from design intent)
- Undertake as appropriate LFE following any key build phase.
- BAE requirement owner relating to Tier 1 supply of equipment.
- Ensure requirements are closed in order to support key build phases and final Contract Acceptance.
- Management of emerging issues relating to the Tier 1 supply base and platform interface.
- Attendance at PIF and management of any actions relating to Tier 1 supply base and platform interface.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Issuing of Confidence Statements for key programme hold points relating to Tier 1 supply of equipment and integration within the whole boat.
- Production of a Certificate of Design prior to Acceptance.
- Ownership through to completion within BAE of Tier 1 Supplier or related Platform Actions that impact or a concern to the design intent.
- Update Tier 1 suppliers' requirements in line with emerging issues and requirements.
- Provide evidence to show that any deviations from design are justified and suitably endorsed by Tier 1 Supplier.
- Provide the required level of evidence, in order for Tier 1 Supplier to sign off design which includes authorisation of programme hold points.
- Provide all key platform support statements for key build and regulatory hold points relating to Tier 1supply.
- Provide evidence that Engineering activities are completed and design intent is not compromised.
- Provide evidence to show that all requirements are closed in order to support key build phases and final Contract Acceptance.

THE INDIVIDUAL

- Appropriate knowledge of the way in which the product is to be operated
- Capable of achieving the appropriate Professional Institution membership
- Degree or equivalent in the appropriate discipline
- Experience in the management of business and technical interfaces
- Knowledge of the techniques of Systems Engineering
- Sufficient experience to be able to identify unusual characteristics and other departures from normal practice that may require deeper investigation.
- Sufficient knowledge of the range of disciplines involved in the product design to be able to identify the best design compromises.
- The ability to analyse complex problems and identify the most critical issues.
