Principal Hardware Quality Engineer

Our client has an opening in their Hardware Test Team for a talented and motivated person that is interested in system level hardware and software integration testing on cutting edge solutions.

OVERVIEW

- Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of methods to test and troubleshoot newly developed or redesigned products, systems, or equipment.
- Assignments include planning test and diagnostic programs, designing test fixtures and equipment, conducting tests, completing specifications and procedures for products, and documenting results of tests.
- Performs development and execution of hardware quality methods and processes.
- Performs installations and runs quality assurance programs to test, identify, reproduce, and report defects.
- Develops acceleration and analytical methods and processes to enhance and ensure the reliability and quality of new and existing products.
- Analyzes failure reports and makes recommendations to improve existing quality assurance processes.
- Defines and implements design rules, techniques, and methods to set reliability and quality goals.
- Provides input to reliability and quality planning to identify potential problems with new and existing products.
- Collaborates with other Engineers, Engineering groups and senior management, voluntarily shares information.
- Performs required tests in a self-directed manner, anticipates issues, and modifies procedures as necessary.
- Offers proposed design changes/suggestions to processes and procedures, involved in product planning as it relates to quality standards.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, without appreciable direction.
- Develops solutions to complex problems, which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 5-10 years hardware or software testing experience
- General knowledge and application of engineering concepts
- Understanding of business environment
- Possesses strong product/technology/industry knowledge
- Communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Proficiency in hardware, software and/or operating systems environments
- Excellent follow through and attention to detail
- Relentless desire to automate
- Full competency in hardware or software testing methodologies
- Experience with storage systems
- Experience with Unix and Shell Scripting
- Experience with networking concepts
- Experience with Bugzilla a plus
