Position: Principal Engineer - Underwater Systems
Job type: Contract (6 months Initially)

Location: Surrey easily commutable from Reading, Basingstoke, Frimley and with excellent access from Hampshire
Salary: £48.14 per hour LTD - Negotiable

OUTSOURCE UK LTD are actively seeking to recruit a Principal Engineer - Underwater Systems for a contract role on behalf of a client.

THE CLIENT:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

THE JOB:
Responsible for Sonar System Design and Development, working under the direction of the Sonar Systems Senior Engineering Manager
Provide support to the design and development of future Sonar Systems and supporting infrastructure on Submarine Platforms, including liaising with Subcontractors and Customers on technical issues
Coordination and execution of Sonar engineering activities in accordance with project plans and processes.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on Sonar Engineering matters including attendance at Working Groups and Design Reviews.
Inputting to, and review of, design documentation produced internally and by external suppliers.
Contribute to identification and rapid closure of engineering issues emerging from all product life cycle stages and manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
Provide realistic engineering programme status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans.
Liaise with both internal and external customers as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed.
Provide support to general Under Water Systems projects, including Document Management and Reviews, Engineering Governance, project Lifecycle reviews.
Undertake requirements generation and technical acceptance, working with the customer to set out requirements.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE
Degree educated in a Science or Engineering discipline (eg Physics, Oceanography, Electronics, Systems Engineering or Computer Science)
Proven track record/experience of working on complex multi-discipline engineering projects
Self motivation, an enthusiasm for problem solving and strong written and verbal communication skills
Systems background
