Principal Engineer - iBoM Development

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - IBOM DEVELOPMENT

A Principal Engineer with Integrated Bom, Windchill, Team Centre, PDM/PLM and configuration experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Glasgow.

This is a 6 month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

OVERVIEW OF THE PRINCIPAL ENGINEER CONTRACT ROLE

The purpose of this role is to define the Integrated Bill of Materials (iBoM) processes and interfaces, data requirements, IT requirements and responsibilities across the functions particularly, supply chain and planning and with in-depth knowledge of support. Gain signoff for processes as mandatory from their programme functional heads and control through the Business Management System (BMS). Provide cost benefits assessments for improvements.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE PRINCIPAL ENGINEER

- Develop iBoM process maps and documentation.
- Define and agree the inputs and outputs between functions.
- Define the IT systems and standard report requirements.
- Define the functional metrics for iBoM efficiencies.
- Define the data library/dictionary for the function, ie attributes set required.
- Review the business best practice internally and externally.
- Define the cost benefits against the improvements.
- Clear understanding of the Product Lifecycle.
- Understanding of what a Bill of Materials (BoM) is and it's roles through life.
- Familiarity with the project IT systems.
- Ability to demonstrate process improvement capability (eg application of Six Sigma/Lean).
- Ability to develop and drive new and improved approaches.
- Ability to provide cost benefits.

The role is based in Glasgow - Commutable from Kilmarnock, Paisley, Greenock, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Edinburgh.
