Principle Asset Controller required for leading defence company based in Stevenage. Please note the successful candidate will be required to gain SC Clearance prior to start

Accountabilities:

The Principal Asset Controller will be required to work within the a team delivering a Ship System availability-focussed contract.

They will be the senior person in a small sub-team managing all spare part assets and the husbandry of Special To Type Equipment.

In this role they will responsible for accounting for the location and condition of all spare parts of all sub-systems of the missile system, on ships, in various stores in industry or at Portsmouth Naval Base, and in the national/international repair loop. The role will expand to include aspects of the Munition Maintenance Installation at the Defence Munitions depot.

The individual responsibilities include:

1. Maintenance of an Asset Tracking database.
2. Carrying out day-to-day coordination of movement of assets.
3. Managing the life of Sea Viper assets, ensuring items are fit for operational use.
4. Providing support to the upkeep of the "as maintained" configuration.
5. Assisting in equipment audits.
6. Liaising with the Spares and Repairs department, Sub-contractors, and clients System Design Authority delivery teams.
7. Acting as the Project Availability Support Service (SV-PASS) contract asset management contact with the Customer community.
8. Supporting other project-related activities as required by the Support Services Manager.

Skills and Knowledge:

The applicant will be expected to:
1. Be literate and able to produce written reports, as required.
2. Be able to work accurately with minimal supervision.
3. Demonstrate the ability to supervise a small team.
4. Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
5. Have an understanding of Ministry of Defence stores management systems and control vouchers.Familiarity with the Royal Navy database systems will be advantageous.
6. Be a self-motivated individual, capable of suggesting process improvements, if identified.

It will be an advantage to have a general knowledge of the missile system, installed on Type 45 Destroyers.

The Applicant must be able to travel occasionally within the UK, and possibly Europe.

Necessary training on Asset Management IT systems will be provided for a suitable candidate, if required.

The ideal candidate will be required to gain SC Clearance prior to start.
