The Head teacher of a Client School in Rochdale is looking for a passionate KS1 specialist to cover maternity in a Year 2 class after the half term break. This position will initially last until the end of academic year; however the Head has stated that the successful candidate may be offered a permanent post for September 2013.

The School is around average in size with around 260 pupils on roll, a large majority of pupils are of a Pakistani ethnicity. The School has a higher than average proportion of students who speak English as an additional language. Whilst the School has a high number of pupils at an early stage of English acquisition, levels of attainment are above average when pupils enter KS2. In the last Ofsted report inspectors highlighted the significant improvements made in the levels of teaching and the lively and vibrant atmosphere which enables pupils to achieve their potential.

Ideally you will be a KS1 specialist who has taught a Year 2 class in a previous role (or on NQT placement). This is a lively group with above average levels of attainment and there are a slightly higher number of girls, the class has 29 pupils in all. You will be supported in this role by a highly experienced teaching assistant who has played an integral part of the children's development since entering the School.

Located just north of the Rochdale town centre, this is a vibrant School with a good reputation in the local area. Pupils are well behaved and respond well to the high levels of teaching throughout the School; facilities are modern and up to date enabling teachers to create exciting and engaging lessons.
