SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS

The role of the Pre-Sale Systems Engineer focuses the development of both large and small project opportunities in the form of proposal responses to meet customer requirement objectives. Pre-Sale Systems Engineers must be able to capture and/or evaluate customer requirements and proficiently construct the technical response portion of a proposal in conjunction with the project team.
Tasks required may include model coverage and capacity, frequency analysis, design reviews and presentations to the project team and customer. The Engineer is expected to multitask among various project assignments, adhere to project schedules and perform within the established project budget. As such, the individual must be proficient in utilizing sound systems engineering tools and processes to successfully perform the technical analyses typically encountered when designing wireless communications systems. This role also requires strong communication skills to effectively interface with customers and internal key work partners. Internal Work Partners may include, Engineers and Consultants, Account Managers, Program Managers, Contracts Personnel, Proposal Center Analysts, and Product group representatives.

SKILLS:

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

- A Bachelors Degree is required. Acceptable Degrees include Information Technology/Assurance, Computer/Management Information Systems, Wireless Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Telecommunications (this requires BS AND MS), Bio Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics
- BSEE or BSCE is highly preferred
- Wireless Communications, Networking, Information Assurance (IA) and/or VoIP experience/background
- Must be willing to travel 15-20% of the time as needed on the project
- Good interpersonal and team-work skills required.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills required. Must have excellent writing skills. Pre-Sale Proposal Work experience strongly desired.
- Able to use resources effectively to solve problems that are outside of the incumbent's technical expertise, analyze and solve problems
- Must also have a working knowledge of computer hardware, software, LANs, WANs, WLANs.
- Background in TCP/IP protocol suite a plus.
- Background in transport mechanisms a plus
- Demonstrated experience in developing Federal customer proposals with team members utilizing technical knowledge of our product solutions, creative and strategic writing skills and team support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of RF propagation and interference (analysis, prediction, mitigation, testing, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of IP data networks, IP network security (N+ and S+ certifications or equivalent a plus)
- Knowledge of TIA
- Experience assembling and managing a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) in support of a US Federal Government or other Governmental program is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience in a systems engineering environment.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve complex technical issues involving multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and schedule self towards completing work assignments on time
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a technical staff or team in completing work assignments in accordance with defined quality objectives, customer requirements, and deadlines
