Powertrain Support Engineer

Our client, A leading support organisation to the Automotive Industry is now seeking a powertrain Support Engineer, on either a contract or staff position. Your main duty will be to develop and deliver service strategies for the customer, with focus being primarily on powertrain programmes. Provide voice of the customer & dealer into the projects and coordinate required dealer communication/materials

Duties/responsibilities:
These will include supporting the tracking and co-ordination of projects and activities associated with:
* Provide support on existing known powertrain issues
* Investigate and understand impact of any in-cycle powertrain actions on current released powertrains
* Work with advance product creation team to understand any future engine families/issues requiring support
* Work with Service commercial and powertrain on new oil introductions and developments
* Work with service commercial and chassis on other new fluid requirements eg brake fluid
* Act as lead within upstream customer service team for cross carline strategies as required
* Set and understand cost of ownership targets for current and future powertrain programmes
* Work to minimise any special toolng needs, and compatibility with service strategy
* Attend key programme meetings to provide service input, and be recognised as the "service expert"
* Ensure that service standards and high hurt systemic issues are cascaded into eFDVS. Identify and create standards for new technologies as appropriate
* Support programme checkpoints with concurred service input
* Set and agree repair process & cost targets
* Ensure new technologies are fully understood and planned for within the service strategy
* Deliver required dealer materials in conjunction with service provider
* Work with programme managers to ensure service requirements are understood and met
* Work with dealer franchising to develop a strategy compatible with the technical requirements of the programme
* Draw on experience within Plant & CoC Service engineers, and key outside agencies eg Thatcham to ensure robust delivery of design for service
* Work with service provider to develop appropriate materials, workshop manuals, handbooks, repair processes

Required skills, experience and qualifications

To be successful in this role you must have:
* A commitment to effective team working
* The ability to prioritise your own workload and deliver to agreed deadlines
* A working knowledge of MS Office programmes
* Strong IT skills in general
* Excellent communication skills verbal and written
* Good organisational and time management skills
* A positive attitude and 'can do' approach
* Relevant and appropriate experience in one or more of the above disciplineor products.

Expected qualifications:
* HNC/City & Guilds automotive qualification as a minimum
* Good English, written and verbal
