Well-trained and creative synthetic organic chemists who are willing to expand their expertise to the field of polymer synthesis are encouraged to apply. We are seeking postdoctoral scientists who have earned a PhD in chemistry with a strong emphasis on organic synthesis or polymer synthesis. Our work requires the synthesis of monomeric starting compounds and to polymerize these monomers to create new polymeric compositions that can be used as resorbable medical implant materials. Experience with combinatorial synthesis and scale up to the kilogram scale is a PLUS. Excellent analytical skills to determine purity and levels of contaminants are essential. Excellent working knowledge of NMR, IR, HPLC, GPC/SEC, MS, GC and other methods of purification and analysis is a requirement.
