Postdoctoral Fellowship

A PDF is available to highly motivated individuals with a background and expertise in two or
more of the following areas: molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and microscopy
techniques, rodent surgery, and/or construction of recombinant viral vectors. The project(s)
entails in vitro cell and organotypic culture work and the in vivo administration of
macromolecules into the rodent CNS. The area of application is in animal models of
neurodevelopmental disorders including fragile X syndrome; the manipulation of excitatory and
inhibitory receptors will be a key aspect of the research. This PDF is funded through the
Canadian Institutes for Health Research Strategic Training Program in Biological Therapeutics
(see
Therapeutics program is the possibility of an optional short-term (1-4 months) placement at a
pharmaceutical or biotech company (industrial internship). Involvement in the U. of Toronto
Neuroscience Program is also expected (see ).
ONLY current PhD students within 4 months of obtaining the Ph.D., or recent graduates who
have obtained their Ph.D. degrees within the past 10 months are eligible to apply. Applicants
must have published 2 or more first authored papers. Salary $43-47K (CAN$).
