Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience (PhD or MD req.)

A full-time postdoctoral position is available immediately to investigate the circuit-level mechanism by which the medial prefrontal cortex supports cognitive functioning. This project involves analysis of cortical dynamics in mice using fluorescent microscopes designed for in vivo calcium recording from neural populations in mice and optogenetics to define the circuit-level mechanism involved in discrimination learning and memory. This position will be funded by multiyear federal grants.

Facilities include a typical molecular biology laboratory, electrophysiology and microscopy room (e.g., laser-scanning confocal fluorescence microscope coupled with electrophysiological systems for recording and stimulation), behavioral suite with equipment for behavioral analysis, fluorescent microscopes for large-scale imaging of cortical circuits in behaving animals, set-up for optogenetic studies in behaving mice, and surgical suite designed for survival surgeries including virus-mediated gene delivery. korzuslab.ucr.edu/.
