A postdoctoral research position is available in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida. The goal of this project is to identify and characterize the cellular mechanisms that control the up-regulation of oxytocin and melatonin receptors in the human myometrium at the onset of term and preterm parturition. This specific project uses a variety of molecular and cellular techniques to study myometrial biopsies and cultured primary smooth muscle cells derived from them as well as immortalized cell lines. Some behavioral and anatomical work with pregnant mice will also be conducted.
