Projektbeschreibung

Discover the Difference

We are seeking a Post-doctoral Fellow to investigate the genetic basis of autoimmune disease focusing on but not limited to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The laboratory is currently investigating the genetic mechanisms of several SLE susceptibility genes involved in the ubiquitination pathway including TNFAIP3, TNIP1, UBE2L3 and several others. While the genetic associations in these genes are confirmed, the causal variants that are responsible for SLE susceptibility are unclear. We are therefore seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our NIH funded laboratory and to lead investigation into the causal variants present in one or more of these risk loci.

Our laboratory employs a wide variety of analytical techniques in the effort to identify causal variants including high-throughput sequencing of DNA, RNA, methylation and histone marks, electrophoretic mobility shift assays, chromosome conformation capture, ChIP-PCR, mass spectrometry, and genome engineering using site-specific engineered nucleases. Competitive individuals will also demonstrate proficiency in the analysis of genetic data, high-throughput sequencing data and the use of bioinformatics software.

Candidates will also demonstrate proficiency in interpreting assay results, summarizing findings, and assisting with manuscript preparation, grant writing, supervising graduate students and presenting data at national meetings.
Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) ranked 3rd in nation in The Scientist magazine's 2013 listing of Best Places to Work for post-docs. Post-doctoral Fellows receive high quality mentoring in a uniquely collaborative team environment in addition to enrichment programs specifically designed to assist post-docs in achieving their career goals. Post-doctoral Fellows work in well funded state-of-the-art laboratories, and receive comprehensive employee benefits. Oklahoma City is one of the most affordable cities in the US based on its economic prosperity, solid job market, and housing cost. OMRF is an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research institute adjacent to the campus of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in Oklahoma City. OMRF investigators enjoy close scientific interactions with OUHSC faculty and participate in OUHSC graduate programs.
