Projektbeschreibung

This position reports directly to Dr Dan Theodorescu, Director, University of Colorado Cancer Center, and is responsible for scientific interactions and work in the area of translational cancer research.

Specific Position Duties with Percentages of Time

The Theodorescu Lab at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a highly motivated individual to investigate the role of chromatin remodeling and transcriptional co-activator proteins in bladder tumorigenesis and metastasis. Exome sequencing of tumors from >100 bladder cancer patients was performed in the lab to define the mutational landscape of bladder cancer. It was discovered that CBP and its paralog p300 are 2 of the 4 most frequently mutated genes in bladder cancer (Nature Genetics, 43, 875-878, 2011). Hence, studying the impact of CBP and p300 mutations on histone acetylation, transcriptional activation, tumor growth, and patient prognosis in bladder cancer will provide novel insights into CBP/p300 function and clinically useful biomarkers and therapeutics in bladder and possibly other cancers. The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative lab environment and have access to an extensive number of core facilities and bioinformatic support.
