Portfolio Analyst

The Company

Robert Half is currently partnering with a Defence Sector client based in Corsham, Wiltshire to appoint an Interim Portfolio Analyst, to link delivery of strategic objectives with investment in change in a demonstrable and transparent way that enhances effective accountability to obtain clear view of the Programme/Project development pipeline and performance to date. Undertake investment appraisals and report accordingly to the Board. Only candidates with valid SC Clearance and experience of working within the Defence sector need apply.

The Role

Scope: Work collaboratively with the strategic planning function to ensure that all initiatives relevant to the strategic objectives are identified, including those at the concept stage. Work collaboratively with programme staff to populate the programme and project information template and build effective working relationships.

Maintain investment criteria linked to each business grouping. Ensure investment criteria used to prioritise initiatives is tailored to suit each portfolio category or segment.

Ensure the Management Board, or Investment and Change Board agree the prioritisation criteria (and any weightings) and are the key decision makers regarding the final prioritised list of change initiatives to gain their shared commitment to the portfolio and the portfolio management process itself.

Approach: Categorise new changes into business groupings. Use categorisation to assess strategic alignment to ensure that resource allocation reflects the relative organisational priorities.

Prioritise changes based on prioritisation measures to identify the most important initiatives, propose which initiatives the organisation should invest in and which initiatives should be resourced above all others. Tailor the prioritisation criteria to the portfolio or portfolio segments objectives to reflect both risk/achievability and return/attractiveness dimensions.

Forecast cost, benefit and risk to delivery and benefits realisation. Work through the prioritisation criteria for each proposed change initiative and ensure ratings are evidenced so that it is clear why certain assessments have been made and to provide confidence that all initiatives have been appraised on a level playing field.

Coordinate and participate in stage/phase gate, investment appraisal, portfolio-level prioritisation and progress reviews. Maintain an audit trail demonstrating the rationale behind investment decisions.

You

§The right individual MUST hold valid SC or DV Clearance.
§Previous experience of working within the Defence Sector.
§Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation.
§Proven track record in Project Risk Management and providing leadership and strategy for Risk Management.
§Ability to influence Change and continuous improvements.
§Planning and managing Project Resources. 
§Excellent Communicating and Influencing skills.
§Proven stakeholder engagement/management.

£400 per day (through Ltd Company)
