Policy Writer - Operational Risk

Our client, a major financial services institution based in Canary Wharf are urgently seeking a Policy and Guidance Writer/Technical Author to join their Operational Risk Management function on an interim/contract basis. The successful candidates will likely have experience in writing policy and guidance documents. An understanding of the current regulatory policy environment for Operational Risk would be helpful. They will also be able to use plain English and simple language to explain complex topics and understand the importance of language in achieving expected outcomes. Candidates need to evidence values aligned with those of the bank and be a team player with a focus on achieving support and buy in to outcomes. They also be expected to work without direction, under pressure and across multiple documents at the same time.

Key Responsibilities include working with Subject Matter Experts to interpret their requirements, documenting these in Policy and Guidance such that they can be understood and complied with. Key activities in support are:
*Successfully manage and deliver agreed outputs that introduce mandatory requirements to the business ensuring that they meet the quality standards defined by Group Operational Risk
*Initiatives are likely to have a time horizon of 6 months
*Produce and maintain necessary project management products to the standard required by the Workstream Lead and Programme Manager
*Interpret SME, regulatory, industry and Group requirements
*Produce documents which are clear, unambiguous and can be readily understood

Person Requirements:

Required:
*Experience in writing policy and guidance documents
*Experience in interpreting regulatory requirements
*Experience in business stakeholder management
*Experience of working within a large complex organisation
*Self starter who work with minimal direction
*Strong communicator both verbal and written
*Structured and thorough with an attention to detail

Preferred:
*Tertiary qualification or internationally recognised Certification in Journalism or the Law
*Experience of working in a global organisation
*Experience of writing technical manuals for non experts
*Experience of producing policy and guidance for audiences who may not have English as a first language
