Title - Policy Advisor
Location - London
Length - 4 Months
Daily Rate - £300-320

Essential Skills:

Policy experience and a good understanding of Government energy and climate policy.

Professional experience (min 5 years) demonstrating an ability to solve problems, apply analytical and numeracy skills, work with complex technical information and communicate this to a non-technical audience.

Seeing the Big Picture

They must be alert to emerging issues and trends which might impact on the work and be able to draw links between issues effectively. The post holder will need to take a pro-active approach to seeking out and sharing knowledge to further their own work and that of others.

Making Effective Decisions

The post holder must be able to identify a range of relevant and credible information sources and recognise the need to collect new data when necessary from internal and external sources. They must be effective in exploring different options, outlining costs, benefits, risks and potential responses to each.

Leading and Communicating

The post holder must take a pro-active approach to communicating their work to others and making connections between teams. The post holder should be able to manage their own workload, using their initiative to resolve problems and escalate where necessary. This will include clarify goals and activities and how these promote the wider work of the project team.
The post holder will need to convey enthusiasm and energy about their work and encourage others to do the same.

Collaborating and Partnering

The post holder must be willing and able to establish relationships with a range of stakeholders to support delivery of business outcomes. They should readily share resources to support higher priority work, showing pragmatism and flexibility to deliver the goals of the team. They should adopt and encourage collaborative team working within their own team and across the Department.

Delivering at Pace

The post holder will need to be able to successfully manage their own work, to deliver agreed goals and objectives. They will need to take responsibility for delivering expected outcomes on time and to standard, including working around problems as they arise. As part of the role, they will need to help the team to plan ahead and reassess workloads and priorities if situations change or people are facing conflicting demands.

Desirable Skills:

*Experience of working within a complex programme
*Basic understanding of the Green Deal and ECO Policy
*Undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in physical or mathematical or environmental science or geography, with knowledge and experience of climate science, carbon technologies or energy efficiency.
