PMO Lead

UK Shared Business Services (UK SBS) draws together HR, Payroll, Finance, Procurement, IT and Grants administration services in one central location in Swindon. Our purpose is to help our clients focus more of their resources on doing what they do best. Customers include the UK's seven Research Councils and the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).

This is a fixed term position for 18 months. The purpose of the PMO Lead role is to support programmes and projects in delivering successfully, by designing and implementing the appropriate governance and PMO disciplines, and assisting the Programme Manager in the management and control of the programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead a small team of Project Support resources providing PMO services to one or more major programme
- Design and implement programme governance appropriate to programme scale and complexity
- Play a hands-on role in delivering key PMO services including governance and communication activities encompassing senior stakeholders and clients
- Produce or review reports and presentations for governance boards
- Assist Project Managers in producing and maintaining project plans
- Oversee the budget, ensuring adherence to financial controls and a strong focus on value for money
- Ensure risks, issues, dependencies and actions are managed effectively and progressed promptly to reduce uncertainty and increase confidence in delivery
- Ensure changes are managed effectively including impact assessment on business case, delivery timescales and projected benefits
- Drive forward action on significant issues, bringing the right people together with the right focus to resolve problems

TO JOIN US, YOU\'LL NEED

- Significant experience of managing Successful PMO functions or Proven comparable experience
- Educated to Degree or MBA level
- Extensive knowledge PMO functions across Programme and Project Management frameworks, disciplines and policies
- Extensive knowledge of project management
- Good leadership skills
- Good negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong analytical skills and complex problem solving abilities.
