Platform Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with hardware and software integration platforms for new interactive applications. You will be responsible for all aspects of platform support implementations for all products that utilize the Common Platform. This is a high impact position that is critical to maintain high availability and high quality products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implementing, performance tuning and troubleshootingall aspects of the Common Platform.

Implement best practices as it relates to our chosen Operating Systems, Hardware, and related 3PPs.

Implement backup and recovery strategies

Work closely with development on implementation of required Platform performance and documentation.

Upgrade all related Platform software to latest patch releases and revisions; this includes Operating Systems, Hardware, and related 3PPs.

Keep updated on new capabilities of our chosen Operating Systems, Hardware, and related 3PPsand how those might improve our ability to service internal customers.

Work with documentation team to ensure any issues effecting functionality are properly reflected in documentation

REQUIRED SKILLS:

BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience architecting large-scale, geographically-distributed systems.

5-7 years of UNIX/Linux must be capable of diagnosing performance issues and Kernel tuning.

5-7 years of experience with Scripting and automation, using common Scripting languages and libraries.(Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby).

3-5 years of experience with virtualization and cloud technologies. (VMWare, KVM, OpenStack)

3-5 years of networking experience, TCP/IP, Routers, bridge, VLAN and load balancers.

1-3 years of experience with DevOps. (Puppet, Chef)
