PLATFORM ADMIN:
This position participates in a team environment and provides technical leadership in the installation, configuration, architecture and support of application platform infrastructure technologies such as Web Servers, Application Servers, Messaging Engines and Directory Services. These technologies are leveraged to support the development and ongoing sustainment of applications created to meet business needs. This position provides technical, interpersonal and administrative skills in performing day to day work.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a multi-platform environment
- Minimum of 4 years in the specific product(s) being supported by the position
- Proven technical expert in at least two of the following types of software products: web Servers, application Servers, messaging engines, directory Servers, web authentication, identity management, web analytics, search engines and content management; and must have a high level understanding of at least four more of these products and be able to apply this knowledge to applications and develop appropriate infrastructure architecture
- Must understand how applications interface with infrastructure
- Demonstrated understanding of basic network infrastructure including DMZs, load balancers and Firewalls and how they apply to applications, architecture and projects
- Demonstrated experience translating business needs into technical architecture solutions
- Demonstrated experience in developing product and architecture standards
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate new technologies and lead the adoption of these technologies by successfully applying them to technological and/or business needs
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with vendors to solve product problems and driving the vendor to resolution in a timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities between several teams to achieve technical architecture and solutions and troubleshoot problems
- Must be able to develop positive relationships and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers and management
- Must be able to work effectively with other team members
- Must be able to work with minimum direction and plan his/her own work
- Must be able to take direction from others in analysing and solving software product issues and problems
- Demonstrated ability to plan and document medium to large product upgrades
- May require experience with CA SiteMinder

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Installs and configures software products in support of business processes and objectives.
- Takes ownership of technical problems and solutions and see them through with no supervision required.
- Expected duties include but are not limited to; software installation, upgrade, and patches; troubleshooting; performance tuning; and documentation.
- Adheres to technical and architecture standards, production implementation standards, regular status reporting, regular participation in team meetings, regular one on one meetings with supervisor and team lead, and providing work estimates and regular time tracking.
- Leads and directs others in the technical analysis, architecture, diagnosis and resolution of system performance problems or outages including the use of performance analysis tools.
- Must be able to lead and manage internal projects and Service Requests including development of objectives, architecture and technical solutions.
- Works under the general direction of assigned Platform Services Lead , and/or Supervisor .
- Provides leadership and mentoring to level I , II , and III as assigned.
- Provides administration and support documentation.
- Must communicate clearly in a timely manner in both verbal and written communication.
- Must have personal organization skills, problem solving and decision making skills
- Actively seeks ways to maximize the efficiency of themselves and their team.
- Analyzes current information technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Oversees the evaluation and selection of software product standards, including the design of standard configurations and architectures.
- Consults with application development projects, solutions engineers, and Business Support teams to fit systems to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate project needs.
- Participates, when called upon, as a technical subject matter expert in the Business Support Team.
- Shares technical knowledge which makes everyone on the team perform better, gain higher compliance to industry technical standards and makes systems more efficient and maintainable.
- Prepares individual work plans and reports activities, tasks, milestones, deliverables, schedules, and status reports, as appropriate.
- Participates in the research and estimating of proposed work.
