Plastics Testing Technician

Responsible for conducting ASTM and ISO physical, chemical and mechanical testing on plastics in accordance with published or internal test methods while adhering to all safety and good laboratory practice standards. Will be responsible for maintaining accurate records utilizing laboratory systems. The technician may also conduct customized testing such as flammability, chemical, thermal or UV exposure and part performance testing.

SKILLS:

High school diploma required. Associates degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline is a preferred.

- 3-10 years in a mechanical, chemical or physical testing environment is preferred.
- Candidate must have a strong commitment to Safety and a well developed personal safety philosophy.
- Candidate must possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and quality focus.
- Good analytical and mathematical skills are required, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be flexible in response to priorities.
- Proficiency with computer tools such as Word and Excel, or equivalent, is required.
- Knowledge of statistics and measurement systems analysis and Minitab or equivalent is a plus.
- Physical and/or Analytical testing experience is highly desirable. Must be able to critically evaluate and troubleshoot equipment and test procedures.
- Must be able to function well in a team environment. Must be proactive in developing strong professional relationships with peers, product scientists and engineers.
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements is a plus.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a routine basis and up to 25 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Must be willing to work overtime, if required.
