Planning Officer

A Principal Planner is required to join a Local Authority based in Northamptonshire on what initially will be an 8 week contract with the potential of extension.

Working within the regeneration and growth team, reporting to the Principal Planner (Development Control) you will be responsible for exercising professional development control and other skills as part of the modernising of planning services focused on delivery for the customer.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include;

- Providing Planning advice, negotiating improvements and propose solutions to physical development proposals.
- Provide advice/assistance in connection with Local Plan policies and other material considerations.
- Proses sing applications for planning permission, Conservation area consent, listed building consent and others to recommendation and decision stages, in accordance with National and Council approved planning policies and other material considerations.
- Attend the Development control committee as directed.
- prepare written and /or illustrative submissions for, and act as expert witness at planning appeal hearings and enquiries or as otherwise required.

Degree or Diploma in Town Planning. Two years relevant post qualification experience and RTPI, for appointment on SO2 is ESSENTIAL.

A current Driving License is also ESSENTIAL.
