Physician Assist-Wound Care

The Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) provides outpatient care to patients and families in the Wound Care Program under the direction of the supervising physician. The PA-C must be knowledgeable and maintain competence in wound healing and advanced wound care modalities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate with Associate Degree of Science in PA/SA program from accredited program and be registered in the State of Ohio, Medical Board.

Required Length and Type of Experience: One (1) year experience preferred as a Physician Assistant - Certified.

Required Licensure, Certification or Registry: Physician Assistant - Certified; Registered with the State Medical Board of Ohio

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interviews patients to obtain a detailed history and physical, and establish a plan of care.

Orders tests and medications.

Collects and assists in the interpretation of reports from diagnostic and laboratory tests.

Performs procedures such as wound debridement, incision and drainage, punch biopsy, and application of biologic products.

Collaborates with medical staff and wound care team in the delivery of care to patients and families.

Coordinates care and makes internal/external referrals as appropriate.

Provides appropriate written and electronic documentation regarding patient status, evaluations and treatments.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
