We have a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute Pensions Manager & Fund Secretary to join our team on a 12 month Contract. As a vital member of the pensions management team and reporting to the Head of Pensions you will pro-actively identify upcoming regulatory, legal, financial or business changes which may impact the pension schemes and either provide or obtain the appropriate advice to the Trustees.

About the role

Based from our London office, you will be a senior member of the Pensions Management team working closely with the rest of the management team, other EDF Energy HR and Finance personnel and the trustees advisers, in particular Mercer, when required, to provide secretarial services for EEPS, EEGS and BEGG and ensuring good governance of each pension scheme. You will also work with the Pensions Accountant to ensure annual scheme returns are lodged with the Pensions Regulator and ensure that any new codes or guidelines issued by the Pensions Regulator are reviewed by the Trustees, as well as assisting the Pensions Accountant to produce scheme annual reports and accounts. In addition to this you will Manage formal communication between the Trustees and the Company, this includes ensuring regular provision of company financial information to Trustees, and you will support the Head of Pensions in developing and delivering Company pension strategy. This will include project managing change initiatives, supporting the Pensions Advisory Committee and project managing pension aspects of Company restructuring, TUPE transfers etc.

About you

The ideal candidate will have in depth experience of managing UK pension arrangements and detailed technical knowledge of UK occupational pension schemes, will be expected to fully understand the implications of events that could occur within EDF Energy or are externally influenced (i.e. legislation) and will be expected to propose and implement action plans. You will also ideally have experience of management in an in-house pensions department and good knowledge of all aspects of pension management at a policy and strategy level where the pension arrangements provided are of a complex nature. With experience of presenting to Trustee Boards and discussing complex pension issues within a large company to colleagues up to Director level, you will be PMI qualified or have made considerable progress towards this qualification or have an equivalent qualification.

You will also possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to demonstrate an awareness of confidentiality of issues/information and will need to show confidence and tenacity in order to drive through changes and manage the resultant pressure.
