Our public sector client based in West London is looking for a skilled Payroll Officer to deliver efficient and effective advice and coaching to all employees and Managers on Payroll and Pensions processes.

As a key member of the HR shared service centre (HRSSC) you will work closely with internal & external contacts to meet agreed HR/Payroll SLAs and KPIs. You will take responsibility for the production of allocated payrolls and assist with other payrolls as directed, inputting all necessary data, undertaking calculations, resolving all queries and undertaking checking of other team member's work as necessary.

You will also be asked to provide routine advice and guidance on national and local conditions of HR services as they relate to pay matters and statutory matters eg SSP, SMP, Tax and NI, Pension contributions etc.

In order to succeed in this role you will need an in-depth payroll and pensions knowledge covering all aspects of payroll and legislation, good knowledge & understanding of terms and conditions of employment for staff, employment and tax legislation and understanding of all HR processes and policies and the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality within tight deadlines.

Excellent IT skills: Word, Excel (Intermediate to Advanced) and a thorough working knowledge of iTrent is essential.
