PAYROLL ASSISTANT - EXCEL, PAYROLL

Contract. Clackmannanshire: Alloa. 1 - 3 months +. £11.52 an hour

THE POST HOLDER WILL HAVE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS: -

- determination of elements making up Gross Pay. Checking eligibility for and correctness of payments claimed by employees and service managers
- assessment of Income Tax, National Insurance liabilities and Pension liabilities for employees and for the company
- assisting with the input to iTrent of all details leading to the final payroll run. eg expenses, overtime, sickness, tax codes, pensions.
- processing of payroll from data input validation to processing sickness, mileage, calculating, auto-enrolement, RTI,cleardown including second bacs.
- provision of assistance and reporting to the Payroll Supervisor in the day to day running of the Pay Team, keeping them informed of any problems that could impact on Service delivery.
- supervising of other Payroll Assistants to ensure all work is covered and payrolls processed on time
- processing of disbursement of statutory deductions (HMRC, Pensions, AVC's etc)
- processing of disbursement of voluntary deductions (eg union dues, savings, donations etc)
- to participate in the Payments team meetings to contribute to the overall development of the Service
- servicing enquires from employees and Service management by telephone, email and in person on any aspect of payroll, Income Tax, National Insurance etc

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, COMPETENCES, EXPERIENCE AND RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS

- Payroll experience in a large environment with a mix of manual and white collar workers.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- EXCEL

DESIRABLE SKILLS

Payroll knowledge and experience of using a modern HR/Payroll integrated system including processing from completion of input to calculating absence, mileage and pays creating the bacs files (not sending) and output of payroll. They use iTrent system but not many do.
