I am currently recruiting for the following role for a public sector company in Bristol
Under the direction of the Payroll and Pensions Manager, to be responsible for the accurate and timely payment of salaries to a specified group of monthly paid employees.
Main Duties
Examine appointment forms and set up records for new employees, including multiple employment records.
Examine and process all subsequent permanent changes to existing pay records.
Deal with the processing of leavers; ensuring that final pay calculations are correct, the production and dispatch of P45s and that all necessary documentation connected with Pension Scheme membership is completed and forwarded to the appropriate Pension Scheme office.
Examine and process timesheets, overtime and other temporary variation forms, sickness and absence returns in an accurate and timely manner.
Investigate exceptions messages produced during the payroll running process, initiating any corrective action that may be required, in order to help ensure the accuracy of the final output.
Ensure that a payment is made, or a good reason for non-payment is known, in respect of all employees within the specified group.
Process pay advances and be able to calculate manual payments when required.
Make overpayment calculations, providing the employee with a full explanation of the situation in writing, and arranging the necessary recovery of the debt by one of the available methods.
To be able to deal with the application of Statutory Maternity Pay, Occupational Maternity Pay, Statutory Sick Pay, Occupational Sick Pay, Statutory Adoption Pay, Statutory Paternity Pay, Occupational Paternity Pay, Income Tax, National Insurance Contributions, Teachers' Pensions and Local Government Pension Scheme contributions and all other conditions of service affecting the Payroll operation.
To deal with correspondence, telephone and written enquiries from employees, departments, personnel officers, Inland Revenue, DWP, Pension Scheme administrators, Banks and Building Societies, responding using any of the above methods as dictated by the particular situation, under the general supervision of the Payroll Supervisors.
Help provide cover, as required, for both planned and unplanned staff absences, such as vacancies, holidays, maternity and sickness.
Assist in the completion of the Teachers' Annual Return of Service, this to include the investigation of queries resulting from the returned data.
Assist, as necessary, with the dispatch of pay advices.
