Payroll Analyst

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for completing weekly payroll activities for hourly employees.
- The position handles confidential information and is also responsible for completing all tasks surrounding the payroll area.
- The position also provides labor related information and completes various duties as needed.
- This position interacts with a wide variety of union hourly and salaried employees
- The successful candidate must be able to listen with empathy, respond to questions in a professional manner while maintaining a calm demeanor and provide timely follow up.
- Payroll processing: to include investigation, correction of errors, responding to questions and preparing checks for distribution to employees.
- Generation of payroll reports, including fringe benefits, wages paid, overtime pay analysis, etc.
- Prepare and key journal entries as needed.
- Ability to create, modify, and ensure accuracy of spreadsheets.
- Miscellaneous filing.
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller and/or Finance Manager.

SKILLS:

REQUIREMENTS

- Prior payroll experience. It is a plus if the experience is in a union manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Must be able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn and understand payroll practices and obligations to ensure compliance with Union agreements.
- Ability to learn and utilize internal payroll systems (including SHARP and LIS (both are SAP platforms) proficiently.
