FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL 31ST MARCH 2014 (SECONDMENT FOR EMPLOYEES OF SBC)

This exciting fixed term position is an ideal opportunity for a highly organised and adaptable individual to influence the way that Southend Borough Council and its partners link with local communities. Working closely with the Partnerships and Engagement Manager the postholder will be responsible for developing and implementing a borough wide approach to building community capacity. You will also support operational teams to develop Streets Ahead, the Council's innovative approach to supporting families with complex needs and the communities around them.

Key responsibilities include administration of key strategic working groups and engagement with community groups. Designing and managing community capacity building processes, including implementing new ways of communicating and mobilising local people, also play a major part of this role. The successful candidate will be a confident and proven communicator with great organisational skills. You will have a minimum of 2 years experience, and preferably recognised training or qualifications, in engaging communities and the voluntary sector. Substantial experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships whilst working within a partnership environment would be a distinct advantage.
