Parental Substance Misuse Specialist

LEAD A NEW APPROACH TO PARENTAL SUBSTANCE MISUSE

If you have experience of supporting families affected by parental substance misuse, you could be part of an exciting pilot programme that's already proved successful in the United States and in five London Boroughs.

The Family Drug & Alcohol Service (FDAC) aims to help parents control their substance misuse so they can be safely reunited with their children. If that is not possible, the aim is to ensure that children are placed permanently with family members or elsewhere. The London FDAC has been operational for six years. The Milton Keynes & Buckinghamshire 2 year pilot FDAC (managed by the Tavistockgive professional advice; present reports in court; and develop clear pathways of care for families affected by parental substance misuse. You'll also have the chance to help develop the pilot service.

To join us, you must have a professional qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing (or equivalent) with relevant registration. You'll also need knowledge of relevant substance misuse legislation, the legal obligations of Children's Services departments and the resources available to adult substance misusers. A car plus a valid driving licence will be essential too.
