Packaging Equipment Engineer

A Global Pharmaceutical organisation currently requires an experienced Packaging Equipment Engineer to work at their Headquarters in London. Whilst based in London there will also be up to 40% travel.

The Packaging Equipment Engineer will be working on a confidential Global Packaging programme, supporting the definition of equipment standards and supplier strategy for a new tooling or line upgrades. You will be supporting the Equipment Lead in achievement of stream deliverables.

Responsibilities
Equipment Specification and Definition
-Work with Capital Procurement and suppliers to agree equipment upgrade technical requirements
-Work with Equipment Lead to identify, document and agree packaging equipment standards, optimised for selected pack platform designs
-Align with Pack Design Stream around equipment and component standards relating to specific packs

Implementation Planning
-Support Line Trials at Sites and OEMs.
-Develop implementation/optimisation guidelines (with regards to equipment) for sites to use
-Endorse the site pack transformation plans from an equipment feasibility and standards consistency viewpoint
-Review Waves 2-4 equipment/product combinations and support the development of more detailed plans for these sites.

Implementation Support
-Support Wave 1 sites, the Site Leads and the Transformation Leads to deliver Wave 1 implementation against agreed plans.
-Financial
-Work with Serialisation engineers to maximise any savings opportunities.
-Endorse the Capex elements of the site PIPs
-Identify potential further savings for 2013.
-Knowledge
-Ensure detailed equipment engineering and process knowledge is consolidated and passed onto to less capable sites.
-Develop best practice implementation pack.
-Ensure all relevant knowledge is captured and shared across the project

General
-Deliver against Stream Plan
-Adhere to project protocols
-Play an active role as a member of the Equipment Stream Team
-Actively liaise with Portfolio Optimisation and Serialisation Teams to support a `one-plan approach.
-Stand-in for Stream Lead when required

Experience Required
-Engineering apprenticeship, engineering/technical degree or equivalent qualification.
-Extensive hands-on experience in primary packaging equipment maintenance or installation and commissioning.
-Good attention to detail and record keeping - to ensure running conditions are optimised and logged at sites.
-Excellent verbal & written communication skills
-Analytical thinking.
-Ability to communicate well and coach individuals/teams with less experience

Preferred Experience
-Full understanding of blister, bottle and sachet packing technologies.
-Understanding of the Regulatory Requirements involved in the Pharma Industry.
-Application of new ideas & concept to meet business needs
