Packaging Engineer

PACKAGING ENGINEER needed to be responsible for the design of protective packaging used on variety of sizes of industrial products. This candidate will perform a variety of tasks, manage individual projects, and make engineering recommendations with minimal supervision. In addition s/he will provide hands-on expertise to resolve complex, cross-functional issues regarding material selection, design, testing, reliability, and cost targets.

The individual selected for this position will be expected to plan and direct the design and development of protective packaging. S/He must have the ability to analyze engineering drawings, product specifications, customer requirements, and marketing strategies to determine the appropriate packaging design, material, required performance tests, and assembly methods.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare packaging specifications and proposals
- Request and evaluate packaging designs and samples
- Complete all required documentation as required
- Research distribution dynamics to develop and complete appropriate validation testing

QUALIFICATIONS

- BS in Packaging Engineering (or equivalent experience) with at least four years' experience
- Must have good project management and interpersonal skills and work well within a team environment
- Experience in the design of corrugated, molded cushions and wood packaging solution is highly desirable
- AutoCAD, TOPS, Package Testing and SAP experience a plus

This contract position is expected to be 12 months in duration.
