OVERHEAD LINE ENGINEER - CONTRACT - SOMERSET

Due to the rapid expansion of Client's business both within the UK and internationally we have requirements for Overhead Line Engineers to join their expanding Engineering Team within the Power sector. Reporting into the Engineering Services Team, the OHL Engineers will provide the engineering and or project management expertise to client projects in the relevant sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Company is seeking to enhance its engineering skills in the following technical disciplines:

- Power Systems Analysis and Network Planning
- Protection and Control
- Distribution Engineering and Network Management
- Transmission Lines.

The Company is seeking candidates competent in one or more of the following areas:

- Techno-economic feasibility studies
- Engineering Studies (Power systems analysis, protection settings, etc.)
- Technical engineering and FEED
- Technical support of large tenders.
- Asset Management.
- To define the scope, responsibilities and service level agreements with each client, to effectively measure success and manage expectation
- Ensure that assigned projects produce the required deliverables within the defined quality, time and cost constraints
- Manage project budget, meeting forecasts and initiating corrective action to address variances
- Support bid management for future business development opportunities
- Accountable for the successful delivery of projects in accordance with the project commitments and requirements
- Operate with full project authority, within the limits of the established budget and company operating policies
- Manage internal relationships to ensure visibility of the project and its successes
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders
- Operational leadership and management of project teams (of 5-10)
- Direct line management responsibility for between 2-3+ individuals
- Ensure communication is maintained throughout all stages of the project life cycle

QUALIFICATIONS

- Engineering Degree qualified
- A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
- Chartered Status

EXPERIENCE

- Must be able to demonstrate success within a similar remit
- Must be able to demonstrate credibility within Power Engineering environment
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes and standards and their impact on project activities
- Experience in leading and managing large complex projects that are strategic in nature and national/international in scope
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximise employee performance
- In depth understanding and appreciation of core business principles and best practise
- Excellent understanding of power engineering principles
- Applicable understanding of relevant legislation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Extensive project lead responsibility for significant activities
- Resilience, motivation, flexibility and drive to achieve results
- Professional approach with high levels of integrity and credibility
- Dependable with a 'can do' attitude.
- Management of delivery partners to deliver to client expectations
