Outpatient Coder Ahima Certified

SUMMARY
Responsible for reviewing inpatient/outpatient records using ICD-10 andICD-9-CM coding systems. Detail-oriented to accurately determine codes for billing, data retrieval and research using a computerized system equipped with on-line abstracting and DRG assignment. Maintain a working knowledge of government regulations, protocols, and third party payer requirements regarding coding and billing. Research un-coded charts on unbilled report. Maintain productivity logs. Works in a fast paced environment where variable workload must be completed within prescribed time frames using fixed resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

AAPC Certification required

Required AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, RHIA or RHIT) Certification.

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or

Register Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM and ICD -10 diagnosis/procedure.

Experience with computerized Grouper essentials.

Minimum of 2+ years of experience with ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 codes.

Must satisfactorily pass a Coding test that is administered by the client.
