I am currently looking for an experienced OSS/BSS INTERNAL IT SYSTEMS PROJECT MANAGER to work on a long term contract for a market leading client of mine in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA.

SUMMARY

To manage the INFRASTRUCTURE (HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE) for the OPERATIONAL SUPPORT SYSTEM (OSS) and business SUPPORT SYSTEM (BSS) COMPONENTS that underpins my clients telecommunications businesses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- To work with the group operations function to understand requirements and operational features and to plan the impact of realizing these features on the operational environment, systems and procedures
- To manage the implementation of new operational and business support systems including liaising with suppliers and internal users to clarify and structure requirements and to ensure smooth delivery.
- To ensure the availability, stability, scalability, robustness and security of the hardware and software components underpinning my clients' Internal IT systems.
- To manage key suppliers of operational systems.
- To implement and enforce robust change control procedures for changes affecting the environment.
- To ensure that issues and tasks are logged in the systems designated for those purposes, to track the process of issue resolution and ensure that internal customers, external suppliers and my clients' management are kept abreast of progress and issues.
- To contribute to shaping operational procedure documentation and related material to support the operations, sales and engagement processes
- To coordinate the general IT support function within my client's group through liaising with technical operations personnel throughout the group and contributing to the development and implementation of shared standards, technologies and procedures.
- To train and instruct other operational support personnel in systems support, health checks and troubleshooting procedures.
- To actively follow the Company's policies and procedures including Equal Opportunities, Information Security and Health and Safety policies.
- To carry out any other duties as may be requested from time to time to meet operational needs

DIMENSIONS

- The job entails managing line-of-business Production systems on two sites, a Pre-Production environment and the projects that affect these environments.
- It also involves interaction with staff and users (both technical and non-technical) at Liquid offices in all of the countries in which my client operate.

PERSONAL SKILLS

- Practical experience of operating IT systems
- Experience and knowledge of the telecommunications industry
- A good understating of server technologies, operating systems and virtualization solutions
- Systematic and thorough approach to problem solving
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- An ability to get things done
- Good team skills

KNOWLEDGE - (PREFERRED)

- SERVICE DELIVERY AND MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORKS (EG ITIL)
- Experience with CRM and BILLING solutions, ideally in a TELECOMMUNICATIONS context
