OSP Infrastructure Construction Planner

This is a 24 month opportunity.Overview
The Outside Plant and Network Provisioning team requires a contractor to provide fiber optic design for all capital works projects and for Information Technology projects. This contractor would need to have sufficient experience to mentor newer staff, while ensuring the projects move forward and stay on budget. Role and Responsibilities
- Design and provide specifications for Telecommunications infrastructure (route, conduit, pullboxes, manholes) for the purpose of fiber optic deployment.
- Management of contracted outside plant work such as construction projects, repairs, and remediation.
- Provide scope of work and specifications as required in the tendering for services for contractors and suppliers.
- Schedule, inspect and monitor contracted construction to ensure contractor compliance with specifications and deadlines.
- Prepare tender specifications, drawings and schedules.
- Engage with outside parties as required to complete the projects.
- Some designs will need to be outsourced. In those cases this position will manage and ensure the final design meets our requirements.
- Ensure line assignments have been issued and approved for all projects.
- Ensure As-Built drawings are forwarded to the appropriate bodies.
- Mentor staff on processes, best practices and procedures for OSP Construction.
Deliverables:
- Produce Designs for fiber optic utilities.
- Produce Inspection reports for fiber optic infrastructure.
- Complete project management documentation.
- Offer monthly recommendations for process improvement.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Experience in the design of OSP Telecommunications infrastructure.
Desired Skills:
- Previous work experience with Municipal, other Government Organizations or equivalent endeavours.
