Oracle Developer
The Software Developer will design and develop software product applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software applications for internal use. Manage full software development life cycle including testing, implementation, and auditing. Perform product design, bug verification, and beta support which may require research and analysis. Work under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.
- Modify, repair, or expand existing programs to correct errors, increase efficiency, upgrade interfaces, or improve performance.
- Perform trial runs for testing and analysis on software and systems to identify problems.
- Plan layout and installation of new software system or modification of existing system for client projects of moderate scope and complexity.
- Provide support for software installation, tuning for databases, systems, and networks.
- Code and program new functions and enhancements to existing functions and fix software bugs, primarily focused on complex functions/bugs. May evaluate overall systems and develop diagrams and logic flowcharts.
- Follow determined programming standards for software products.
- Analyze software requirement to determine technical implementation. Perform work on complex designs using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
- Perform unit testing of all new/updated code.
- Collaborate with other systems analysts/technical consultants to ensure that efforts are coordinated.
- Enter code changes into computer system to correct errors.
- Change system software so that system performance will meet objectives.
- Develop and troubleshoot existing code, including development and support of customized conversions, interfaces and product upgrades.
- Stay informed of environment certifications and application patches and releases and works with management to plan patching and upgrades application environments.
- Install and maintain development, testing, training and production environments of applications; move or refresh data in each environment as needed.
- Install databases or create database connections. Setup and maintain multiple application systems with functioning systems integrations or data interfaces.
- Confer with IT for coordination of tuning activities, and in the planning and maintenance of the hardware utilized.
- Support movement of approved changes from test to production environments.
- Undertake troubleshooting of development and production issues individually and as part of a resolution team.
- Other duties may be assigned to support the organization and its goals.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university; or six to nine years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Oracle DBA certification highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and development skills
- Senior level resource with very strong performance tuning experience in PL/SQL.
- Self starter and hard worker with good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Deep experience with Oracle 10g & 11g including manipulation of bulk data.
- Experience with data warehousing a plus including understanding star schemas, dimensions, facts, and cubing of data.
- Data modelling also a plus.
