Oracle DBA (Database Administrator)

Yoh has a contract opportunity for an ORACLE DBA (DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR) for our client in Norristown, PA

JOB OVERVIEW:

Production database Administrator is responsible for managing development, test, stage, training and production database environments. DBA must have good working Real Time experience in ASM, RAC, and DG technology. Administrator experience in Oracle 11 is required, ASM configuration, creating multiple node RAC database is desirable. The Data Administrator is also responsible for creating processes and scripts that will improve proactive monitoring of database performance, availability and security. In the process Administrator will also be responsible for developing Shell Scripts, PL/SQL scripts. In addition, the Data Administrator is responsible for monitoring the databases, identifying problems and providing quick, efficient remediation, as well as performance monitoring. The data administrator will follow all standards, policies, procedures and security requirements of the IT department and the DBA team. The scope of responsibility for the position includes project support, as well as maintenance and support activities.

DATA AND INTEGRATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

Data and Integration Services department is responsible for managing data from end to end. The department is responsible to make sure data available to all applications all the time. In addition to testing each individual product/application, this team is also responsible for testing the interactions of these products among themselves. Such interaction mechanisms include but are not limited to SOA enabled Enterprise Service Bus, database transfers, replications, triggers, and flat files etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Monitor different environment databases.
- Develop new processes and scripts to enhance monitoring of Golden Gate and Oracle processes.
- Work with the application development and support teams to identify and address performance problems.
- Perform necessary database upgrades and patches.
- Ensure that databases are in compliance with company standards, as well as all relevant configuration determined by DBA team.
- Perform account management, in accordance with requests from Security group.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- B.S. degree in Computer Science, management information systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- One to two (1-2) years of experience with Oracle 11.
- Two (2) years of working experience in RAC, ASM and Data Guard.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, or activities.
- Experience tuning individual SQL queries, database applications, and optimizing databases.
- Experience with data extraction, data export and import tools.
- Experience supporting Oracle 10 G in an AIX/UNIX environment, Data Pump.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Real Time working experience on Data Guard, RAC, and ASM technologies.
- Experience with logical data modelling, including developing and maintaining data model diagrams (ERD), facilitating structured data modelling meetings.
- Experience working in a highly available 24X7 database environment.
- Strong customer and business focus.
- Strong documentation and communications skills.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Experience with PL/SQL.
- Experience working with very large databases.
- Experience migrating database objects from development through test and into production environments.

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

- Oracle certification.
- Experience working in a formal software system delivery methodology.
