Oracle Database Programmer 110k-140k Base

Main Duties

Technical Responsibilities

Data Modelling:

* Design of logical and physical data model from analysis/requirements
* Improvements and corrections of the existing data model
* Maintaining multiple branches and versions of the physical data model, including upgrade and rollback scripts.

Design:

* Interpretation and understanding of functional specifications.
* Writing technical design documents adhering to predefined standards, and publishing the broader team

Code Development:

* Hands-on design & development of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in an Oracle 11g environment, while ensuring that the code written meets the predefined company and department standards
* Performance tuning to ensure acceptable application performance, keeping in mind the Exadata specifics

Implementation:

* Training and knowledge transfer to support team as required.
* Point of contact for support team, investigating and resolving post-release issues found in production.

Communication Responsibilities:

* Communicate effectively with the other development streams and the local development manager.
* Work closely with development team members in London, New York and Singapore participating in and contributing to technical discussions.

Person Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in working on an IT development team, specifically in the area of Oracle database development/design

· Experience working with large reporting databases (i.e. in the 2 TB+ range)

· Strong Oracle performance tuning experience

· Experience working with source code control tools, such as Perforce or ClearCase

· Experience with logical modelling tools such as Enterprise Architect

· Experience with data modelling tools such as ER Studio and ERWIN

· Experience with technical writing, producing and publishing documentation

· Strong understanding of Oracle 10/11g from a development perspective

· Solid understanding of Data Warehouse and Data Mart concepts with proven experience in both

· Understanding of Business Intelligence tools and concepts (i.e. Business Objects, Cognos)

· Good Unix (Solaris) and good day-to-day Windows skills

· Experienced on one or more source control tools, preferably Perforce or ClearCase

· Strong analytical and logical skills with the ability to resolve issues in a high-pressure environment

· Knowledge of software development best practices and software development life cycle
