Oracle Database Architect

Our customer is working in a project to create a new Oracle based application hosting environment. The application hosting environment will be part of a newly (to-be) built twin datacenter solution. Business applications will be deployed inside these datacenters and need to land on the application hosting environment. In this phase, the focus is on creating high Level Design, Low Level Design and implementing the solution based on various Oracle hardware and software products.

Interfaces

The Database architect reports to a project manager and works within a team of other architects to create the application hosting environment. The candidate needs to liaise with operations, other architects and application architects/designers.

Deliverables and responsibilities of the Database architect

- Database requirements analysis and documenting
- High level design for the Oracle environment
- Aligning disaster recovery requirements with the overall architecture team

Job requirements

Candidate has a thorough understanding of database architectures and solutions in a broad sense. Further requirements on candidate:

- HBO+ or Academic level
- Minimal 3-5 years of relevant work experience within an enterprise environments
- Knowledge of Oracle database and related products (eg. RAC, DataGuard) applied as middleware for large scale enterprise business applications
- Knowledge of Database Disaster Recovery solutions and designs
- Hands on knowledge, ability to do quality control of the platform build
- Basic IT platform knowledge (system, network and storage)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (Dutch, English)
- Excellent documenting capabilities, 2 design examples (at least one HLD) are mandatory for the intake
- TOGAF certified and/or experience is preferred

During the project the Oracle Database architect will work closely with other architects and operations to collect requirements and design the database environment.

The candidate has a hands-on mindset, a strong customer- and problem solving orientation, shows fast results, and has demonstrated good communication skills, especially in an international IT organization. To achieve the project goals the candidate is able to liaise directly with all stakeholders. The candidate has a clear focus on results and quality.
