Oracle Database Administrator Job

ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in FOLSOM, CA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Oracle 10g, 11g experience
- Grid Control/OEM experience
- Oracle ASM experience
- 10g or 11g RAC experience

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Participate in production Oracle database 24x7 on call support.
- Plan and Lead database development and maintenance of databases including:
- design database environments and create databases
- design, develop, test, deploy and maintain database objects
- design, develop, test, deploy and maintain database security and audit solutions
- design, develop, test, deploy and maintain database recovery solutions
- execute data recovery
- manage database performance, capacity and availability
- DBMS SW implementation, upgrade, patching
- Use best practices, work plans, checklists and defined processes.
- Proactively support application teams. Perform SQL tuning.
- Provide advice on application data issues.
- Participate in project technical reviews. Lead work product reviews.
- Develop and maintain database support documentation.
- Monitor database environments. Proactively identify and prevent incidents.
- Take ownership of complex database incidents and problems, providing resolutions in a timely manner.
- Engage SMEs or vendors to provide assistance to resolve more complex incidents as required.
- Backup and Restore databases.
- Tune and resolve database performance problems.
- Effectively manage and monitor all aspects of RDBMS environment.
- Support development, test, and production Oracle database environments.
- Implement database change requests.
- Assist developers with Oracle issues and questions.
- Follow and contribute to database best practices.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Oracle 10g, 11g experience required.
- HPUX, Linux experience required. Solaris experience is a plus.
- Grid Control/OEM experience required.
- Scripting in ksh and Perl required. PL/SQL programming experience/knowledge is a plus.
- 10g or 11g RAC experience required.
- Oracle ASM experience required.
- Oracle 10g or 11g OCP DBA certification is a plus.
- SQL Server experience is a plus.
- Experience working with VLDB databases including partitioning required.
- Bachelor or Master degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field required.
- Minimum four (4) years Oracle DBA experience including extensive production support required.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
