Oracle Database Administrator Job

ORACLE DBA (DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR) needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in St. Charles, MO.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Oracle DBA

- Data Guard
- Unix Shell Scripting
- AIX or Linux

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Creates Unix Shell Scripts and PL/SQL scripts to support automation
- Develops and maintains the database configuration documentation.
- Actively participates in ensuring database security by controlling and monitoring user access.
- Researches, reviews and develops database designs for new projects.
- Evaluates new database software versions and presents findings
- Assists with the development and execution of capacity plans.
- Monitors and meets established capacity plan standards.
- Monitors the performance and growth and prepares entities, attributes, and relationships for required transaction and data volumes.
- Performs root cause analysis of infrastructure problems; identifies solutions and makes recommendations; takes appropriate remedial steps towards resolution.
- Performs the allocation of disk storage spaces.
- Develops and executes database backup and recovery strategies.
- Develops, implements and maintains disaster recovery plans.
- Develops task automation and process improvements.
- Maintains established service level agreements to meet customer expectations and quality standards.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
- Five (5+) years Oracle 10g and 11g working experience on AIX or Linux environment
- Excellent communication skills are required-both written and oral
- Scripting ability and experience in Unix Shell and PL/SQL is required
- Working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) is required
- MUST BE CURRENTLY ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN THE US FOR ANY EMPLOYER.
- Any experience on an Open Source database (example, MySQL, MariaDB) a plus
- Experience with Active Data Guard
- Proven knowledge and experience in designing database schemas to align with development and business goals and objectives
- Strong decision-making, documentation and analytical skills
- Established track record of taking initiative to identify issues and propose solutions
