Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) Job

ORACLE DBA needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Yardley, PA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage
- Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases. The DBA works closely with system administration staff because computers often have applications or tools on them in addition to the Oracle Databases.
- Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database
- Plans and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle database
- Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle
- Performs database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database
- Puts standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance. The DBA will perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are being adhered to
- Evaluates releases of Oracle and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate
- Planning is also performed by the DBA, along with the application developers and System administrators, to ensure that any new product usage or release upgrade takes place with minimal impact
- Provides technical support to application development teams
- Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database
- Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
- Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
- Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools
- Create new database users as required
- The DBA has ultimate responsibility for the physical database design.
- Providing technical expertise to design most efficient and cost effective solutions for Oracle-based database systems Capacity planning, sizing and designing
- Providing DBA support for development and QA/performance databases

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelors degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience in the design, administration, programming and support of Oracle RDBMSs/MDDBMSs in one or more Client Server environments (eg Unix, AIX, Windows XP, Intranet, Web) with experience in Oracle ERP Applications from development through operations. Experience should include patch management, cloning, RMAN, OEM
- SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc.
- 8+ years hands-on experience with Oracle, with detailed understanding of internals
- Golden Gate replication
- BACKUP/RECOVERY for Oracle databases
- Oracle 11gR2, RAC, installation, performance tuning
- Extremely honed problem-solving and debugging ability
- BASH Scripting (must have) and one of Perl/Python/PHP (nice to have)
- Extensive experience in database design, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, database backup and recovery, SQL statement tuning, and Unix Shell Scripting
- Extensive experience with RMAN, OEM/GRID Control, and Data Guard
- Switchover/failover procedure using Data Guard (Physical/logical)
- Oracle RAC cluster upgrades from 10g to 11gr2
- Experience in oracle database upgrades and Character Set conversion and migration on different platforms
- Experience in setting up replication solution like Golden Gate and Oracle Stream
- Extensive experience with RAC, ASM storage on dedicated and shared cluster environments
- Basic Understanding of Exadata storage cell and DB nodes

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Familiarity with regular expressions for pattern matching and replacement
- Understanding of both OLTP and OLAP concepts
- Oracle Certifications valued, but not required
- Understanding of Hadoop and Map/Reduce concepts
