Oracle Architect

Yoh has a contract to hire opportunity for an ORACLE ARCHITECT to join our client in Reston, Virginia.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for redesign of the client's Oracle infrastructure to be highly available, Datawarehouse system to be more efficient and highly available, and implement database redundancy.
- Manages Systems Architecture Team resources, projects and assignments.
- Lead Database Architect of Oracle environments.
- Provides consultation on strategic direction for Architecture including database design, development and maintenance.
- Leads the design, development, integration and maintenance of complex enterprise Oracle databases.
- Directs the design, implementation and test of Oracle database backup, recovery systems, database migration and archiving systems and procedures.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of highly available solutions, with extensive knowledge of replication and scaling.
- Recommends proper hardware and software implementations to improve software quality, efficiency and minimize cost.
- Defines architecture and thresholds for Oracle database monitoring and performance management.
- Performs backups, migration, performance tuning and replication.
- Plans, installs, and tests software upgrades and patches.
- Performs requirement definition as it relates to all aspects of Oracle enterprise implementations.
- Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to systems operations.
- Performs the administration, maintenance, and support of databases located locally and remote.
- Assists developers working on applications that use the database to ingest and retrieve data.
- Manage Oracle Data Guard to ensure that standby databases are transactionally consistent copies of the production database.
- The successful candidate in this role will support Oracle Streams technology.
- The successful candidate in this role will be responsible for supporting Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC). Oracle RAC provides a highly available, scalable and manageable solution by sharing complete access to a single database among nodes in a cluster. FAS anticipates leveraging the capabilities of Oracle RAC in the future.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Average of ten (10) years of implementation experience. A Master's degree or equivalent experience.
- One or more Oracle certifications.
- Experience with Oracle OEM/Grid Control which is Oracle's single, integrated solution for managing all aspects of the Oracle database and the applications running on it.
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard to ensure high availability, data protection, and disaster recovery for enterprise data.
- Experience with Oracle SQL Developer to allow developers to browse database objects, run SQL statements and SQL scripts, edit and debug PL/SQL statements, manipulate and export data, and view and create reports.
- Experience with Oracle Recovery manager RMAN, which is a platform independent utility for coordinating backups and restore procedures across multiple Servers. Experience with using RMAN to perform incremental and full database backups.
- Experience with Sybase to Oracle conversion.
- Demonstrated experience with replicating databases using block-level technology and proficiency in setting up, managing, and maintaining block-level replication.
- Demonstrated proficiency with block-level replicating databases and managing the implementation of block-level replication and on-going maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of databases, Oracle in particular.
