ORACLE AND SQL SERVER DBA (MICROSOFT, BCP, ORACLE RAC, ORACLE DATAGUARD, MSCS CLUSTERING, SQL SERVER MIRRORING, WINDOWS, LINUX, NETAPP, EMC STORAGE)
Axica Recruitment are currently looking for an Oracle and SQL Server DBA to work a 6 months+ contract in Toronto. Working as an Oracle and SQL Server DBA you will be skilled in the design, implementation and maintenance of MS SQL Server and Oracle database systems.
Role Specific Accountabilities:
- Provide second-level database support of my clients database environments.
- Provide primary response for Capacity and Availability monitoring, ensuring that all issues are tracked and are resolved in timely manner.
- Work with project support teams to implement database-related changes.
- Work with other Infrastructure teams to implement infrastructure changes and troubleshoot issues.
- Coordinate infrastructure-related changes that affect database environments with outsourcing partner.
- Assist project support teams and development teams with database development, physical database design, and performance tuning.
- Install and configure new database systems; decommission database systems, as required.
- Assist with quarterly database audit process by generating reports for internal audit team.
- Perform quarterly database patching.
- Manage database backups and recovery.
- Work with System Administration team to manage storage and server resources for database workloads.
- Provide support for database-related Disaster Recovery initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with infrastructure teams and IT project support teams.
- Assume ownership over project-related documentation; ensure adequate knowledge transfer with other DBA team members to ensure comprehensive support.
- Provide afterhours operational database support.
- Additional duties as assigned by Manager of Database Administration.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in Trading, Financial Services, Investment, Pension, or Banking environments is a significant asset
- 4+ years experience working hands-on in a technology infrastructure or technology support role of MS SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 and Oracle Database 10g/11g/12c
- Experience in Trading, Financial Services, Investment, Pension, or Banking environments is a significant asset
- Extensive experience with High Availability and BCP concepts, such as Oracle RAC, Oracle DataGuard, MSCS clustering, SQL Server Mirroring
- Extensive experience with database design and performance tuning methodology
- Experience with management of Windows and Linux/Unix systems
- Experience working with database systems running on NetApp or EMC storage infrastructure
- Related Microsoft and Oracle professional certifications are desirable
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the professional management and operation of critical business IT systems
- Ability to research complex technologies and make appropriate, reasoned implementation recommendations
